Kinesiology Hosts Conference

The Department of Kinesiology hosted the Western Zone New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance’s (AHPERD) annual conference for the 6th consecutive year on Monday, March 7 at the Koessler Athletic Center.  More than 100 physical and health educators from the Western New York area were in attendance.

Students from the college’s Physical and Health Education Teacher Education (PHETE) presented two sessions entitled Incorporating Common Core in an Elementary Basketball Unit and Games and Activities with an Omnikin Ball. 

Additional presenters included the Horizon Health Services, United States Tennis Association, US Games, and other local health and physical education professionals.  In addition, contestants for the Western Zone “Get Moving NY” video contest were announced.  The Canisius College PHETE program has three of seven applicants entered in the contest.  Please support our majors by viewing and voting for your favorite video using this link.

Buffalo Niagara 360 Legal Briefs Series

On Tuesday, March 22 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Hodgson Russ LLP will hold the second session of a three-part Legal Briefs informative series entitled, “Whistleblowers: How to Navigate the New Era of Private Enforcement of Governmental Rights.” The panel discussion will feature whistleblower statutes, what makes a whistleblower tick and how you can protect your company from whistleblower lawsuits.

Reetuparna Dutta, senior associate, Hodgson Russ will serve as moderator for the panel. Featured panelists include Daniel C. Oliverio, Esq., chairman, Hodgson Russ LLP; Randy Fahs, manager of corporate contracts, Moog, Inc.; and Adam Katz, assistant United States Attorney, Northern District of New York

A Taste of Paris
