Over the past several years in the United States, there have been a number of incidents of violence in public venues, in workplaces, and in schools, including universities. Being aware of your surroundings and learning what to do in an emergency situation is important. We must prepare ourselves in the event we have an active shooter or any other significant threat to life on our campus. We have one remaining session scheduled to assist us in addressing these issues on campus:
Tuesday, February 2nd, 4:00pm-5:00pm-Regis North
The training includes a video that contains graphic content of a violent nature and other strategies that are intended to encourage viewers to be aware of these active-shooter incidents and think in terms of planning. The training will be conducted by Wil Johnson, public safety director, and staff from our EAP provider, Child and Family Services. We encourage faculty and staff to attend to learn more about these strategies for awareness and action under these circumstances.
