Kevin Gaines, PhD, of Cornell University, a prize-winning historian for his book on African Americans in Ghana (the first black African nation to become independent) will speak at Canisius College on Monday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Regis Room South. His lecture, entitled “The Civil Rights Movement Through its Music,” discusses the role of music in one of the most important reform movements in American history.

Gaines will appear under the auspices of the Organization of American Historians’ Distinguished Lectureship Program. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information contact Bruce Dierenfield, PhD, at Ext. 2683.
