Steve Fraser, PhD, author and professor of economic history, will speak at Canisius College on Wednesday, October 21 at 7 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge. His lecture, entitled “Why Americans Once Stood up to Organized Wealth and Power and No Longer Do,” is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event is presented by The William H. Fitzpatrick Chair of Political Science Lecture Series.

Fraser is a historian, writer and editor.  He is the author of Labor Will Rule: Sidney Hillman and the Rise of American Labor; Every Man a Speculator:  A History of Wall Street in American Life; Wall Street: America’s Dream Palace; and most recently The Age of Acquiescence: The Life and Death of American Resistance to Organized Wealth and Power.  He is the co-editor of The Rise and Fall of the New Deal Order and Ruling America: A History of Wealth and Power in a Democracy.

Fraser is a Distinguished Lecturer of the Organization of American Historians.  He has taught at Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, New York University and Columbia University.
