Christopher Shields, PhD, the George N. Shuster Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, will speak on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Science Hall rooms 1013A and B. Shields’ talk, titled “Aristotle, Happiness and the Best Life,” is co-sponsored by the Canisius College Honors Program and the Department of Classics. The event is free and open to the public.
Shields is the author of Classical Philosophy: A Contemporary Introduction and Aristotle, the editor of the Oxford Handbook of Aristotle and The Blackwell Guide to Ancient Philosophy, and the translator of Aristotle’s De Anima.
Shields served as a professor of classical philosophy and Fellow of Lady Margaret Hall at the University of Oxford from 2004-2014.
