Tickets for the second annual Buffalo Humanities Festival are now on sale!

Are we bound by gender? In a day and a half of presentations, performances and conversations, the 2015 Buffalo Humanities Festival will attempt to answer that question by going beyond the simple oppositions of male/female and gay/straight. Some experts claim that we live in a “post-gender” era, with stay-at-home dads, female CEOs and transgendered characters on TV. Yet history, literature, music and the arts suggest that the story of gender is more complicated – and more interesting – than that.

Canisius is cooperating with other local institutions to sponsor the event, which will feature presentations by Jonathan Lawrence, PhD, associate professor, religious studies and theology and Janet McNally, assistant professor, English/creative writing.

See the program here for full details and other highlights, including Friday’s keynote speaker featuring Jill Lepore. Please spread the word among colleagues, students, and friends – like the Festival Facebook page!
