Pope Francis’ Encyclical “Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home,” will be the topic of a panel discussion next Wednesday, September 23 in the Andrew J. Bouwhuis Library Learning Center, main floor, at 4:30 p.m. This free event is open to the public.

Speakers from across the college will reflect on the significance of the Pope’s encyclical within their area of knowledge, discipline or program. Reflections will briefly address how we, as an institution and members of this community, may respond to the call for action posed by the encyclical. Audience members will be encouraged to engage in conversation following the panel.

Rev. Michael J. Tunney, SJ, director of mission and identity, will moderate the panel. Among presenters are: Nancy Rourke, PhD, religious studies/catholic studies; Paola C. Fajardo-Heyward, PhD, political science/Latin American studies program; Tanya Loughhead, PhD, philosophy/justice and ethics programs; Erin Robinson, PhD, sociology, environmental studies; Michael Hayes, director, campus ministry and Sarah Signorino, associate campus minister; M. Fernanda Astiz, PhD, teacher education/Latin American studies program; and Sandy Estanek, PhD, graduate education, student personnel services.
