Canisius has partnered with American Student Assistance® (ASA) to provide a new product to our students, recent alumni and employees called SALT. Our institution is providing this comprehensive program as part of a well-rounded Canisius education to help our students become financially literate during college and beyond.
SALT is a dynamic, multichannel financial education and debt management program that educates, empowers and engages our students to own their finances. SALT makes it immediately rewarding, easy and fun to make smart decisions about their money and student loan borrowing.
Through this comprehensive program, our students and recent alumni receive:
– Access to a scholarship search tool, so they pay less for school.
– Access to a job and internship search tool, to increase their earning power.
– Highly interactive online financial education content.
– Proactive communication about student loan repayment options.
– One-on-one repayment counseling with student loan experts.
– Multiple “self-serve” online tools and calculators to assist with budgeting and managing your federal student loans.
– Advocacy and assistance with resolving complex student loan related problems.
– Access expert counselors for personal student loan help.

SALT is created by ASA®, a 56-year-old nonprofit committed to empowering college students and alumni to successfully manage and repay their student loan debt. As one of the leaders in student debt management, ASA has taken their knowledge of what works and rolled it into the SALT program to help students manage debt and gain financial skills for life.
