The Western New York Prosperity Fellowship welcomed 26 new fellowship recipients during a kickoff meeting held Friday, April 24 in the Regis Room North. Previous recipients of the Western New York Prosperity Fellowship were also in attendance.
The program featured guest speakers George Palumbo, PhD, professor of economics and finance at Canisius, Jack McGowan, executive director of Buffalo Angels and project manager at Insyte Consulting and Carly Battin, executive director of the Elmwood Village Association.
The Canisius College Western New York (WNY) Prosperity Fellowship Program is an innovative program for students in their junior or senior year or graduate studies who have entrepreneurial drive and want to make a difference in Western New York. It combines fellowship assistance with credit bearing internships and skill building to provide students with academic and practical experiences in their intended professions. Students work alongside and are mentored by leaders and upper-level management. They receive significant financial assistance, so they can fully focus on making the most of their internship opportunities and educational experiences. In return, students commit to working and giving back economically to Western New York for at least two years within a 10-year period upon graduation.
The Prosperity Fellowship Program is made possible by support from the Prentice Family Foundation, established in 2007 by Bryant and Joan Prentice.
