This past semester, Dr. Lauren Cavanaugh’s Movement in Elementary Activities class (PED 311/PEG 511) created a series of videos displaying how they “get moving.” This was part of the NYS AHPERD Get Moving video conference. Prize money was awarded to the first, second, and third place videos to be used towards the purchase of new physical education equipment for their local schools.

Pictured left to right: Nancy Langer, president, NativityMiguel; PED311/PEG 511 students Elyssa Rosenbaum, Andrew Parent, and Tyler Rose.

Two videos from PED311/PEG511 were awarded with second and third place prizes, totaling $350. The class decided to “pay it forward” to the NativityMiguel Middle School of Buffalo. Some of the equipment purchased by NativityMiguel included: jump ropes, playground and basketballs, sidewalk chalk, and ball pumps.
