The final Informally~Formal Chamber Recital of the year is tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. The program features the Mekinulov family in a performance of works for celli, piano and voice.

The BPO’s principal cellist, Roman Mekinulov, will be performing works for cello and piano with his father, pianist Alexander Mekinulov and works with his two children, Talia and Benjamin, who are also cellists.

The first half of the program features works by Saint-Saëns and Vivaldi. The second half of the program has an operatic theme and includes soprano Sebnem Mekinulov (wife of Roman and mother to Talia and Benjamin) singing two arias by Verdi, as well as cello transcriptions of Verdi’s arias for cello and piano. The entire family will perform Astor Pizzolla’s Oblivion to close the performance.

Tickets for this concert are $15 general admission and $7 for students, and can be purchased at the door in the Fine Arts Office (LY406) or online at canisius.edu/artscanisius-tickets.
