Staff Christmas Mass and Luncheon December 23

A Christmas Mass will be offered at 11:30 a.m. in Christ the King Chapel on Tuesday, December 23, followed by the staff Christmas luncheon from noon – 1:30 p.m. in the Peter Gust Economu Dining Hall.

Please take this time to visit with and enjoy the company of our college community as we come together to celebrate Christmas and the blessings of our friends and co-workers.

As in the past, in the spirit of giving, members of the Canisius community attending the events are asked to bring a non-perishable food item(s) to benefit St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy in Buffalo. The items collected will be used for their Food Pantry. St. Luke’s serves between 400-600 people a day in their Dining Room; they own 23 homes in the area for mostly women and children; have two shelters for men; a Mission Mall; and a Home School to educate the children they serve. St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy does not receive money from the government or the diocese. Trusting in God’s Divine Providence, the ministry depends on donations from individuals like you. St. Luke’s is one of the college’s community partners.

Drop-off bins will be located in the dining hall during the Christmas luncheon. Please help in any way that you can.

No RSVP is necessary and all but essential employees are released to begin their holiday immediately following the luncheon. Happy Holidays!

The Search Committee for the Vice President for Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that three finalists have been selected for campus interviews. All members of the Canisius community are invited to participate in the process by attending the open forums.

Candidates will give brief presentations on their visions for the role and answer questions from the audience. The forums will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on January 14, 16 and 21. The names and credentials of the candidates, as well as the location of the events, will be released when the college reopens in January.

Everyone who participates in the interview process will be asked to complete a web-based evaluation on the candidates. This feedback is very important to the committee and everyone is strongly encouraged to add their voice to the process.

Please save the dates and consider attending.

It’s Been More than 30 Years…

…since the Canisius Golden Griffins have hosted Holy Cross in a men’s basketball game. That was a 1982 contest in the Aud that featured George Blaney and Nick Macarchuk on the sidelines, as the teams’ two head coaches.

Well, the rivalry gets renewed on Sunday when the two Jesuit institutions meet in the Koessler Center for a 2 p.m. matinee.

For tickets, call 888-2885 or visit GoGriffs.com for more information.
