Both your men’s basketball and ice hockey teams will be celebrating the Thanksgiving weekend on the field of play in Buffalo.
Jim Baron’s quintet will meet the UB at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday in the feature match of a Big 4 doubleheader. Niagara and Bona battle at 2 p.m. This is the first Big 4 DH in 16 years. Tickets are $20.00 and are available at the KAC box office on Wednesday.
Hockey plays host to Air Force on Friday 2 p.m. and Saturday at 7:35 p.m. Both games will be played at the HARBORCENTER. All kids under the age of 10 will be admitted free to Friday’s game, while any unused tickets from last Saturday night’s game against Mercyhurst are valid for either game this weekend. An Introduction to The Online Cloud for Faculty and Staff
The Faculty Technology Services (FacTS) Center has rescheduled its workshop for faculty and staff, which introduces web-based storage, sharing, and collaboration using Google Drive. Store and share files in a secure internet location, easily accessed and updated from multiple devices. Use Google’s online word processor, spreadsheet and other tools to easily collaborate with colleagues on and off campus. This workshop, originally scheduled to run on November 21, will now be held on Friday, December 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. It will also run on Thursday, December 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., as originally announced. Both sessions will take place in Old Main 119.

The Teacher Education Club (TED) hosted Erika Meyer, a representative of Entreculturas, from Madrid. Erika spoke to future educators about the disparity of educational opportunities for some children, especially in Third World countries. This international Jesuit organization, a component of Fe y Alegria, promotes social justice through schools. Erika emphasized the mission of Entreculturas to advocate for education for ALL children. The organization’s belief is “education is a key tool for development, transformation, social change and intercultural dialogue.” A lively discussion followed to brainstorm possible ways students from Canisius could be involved in this organization, both as advocates and as active participants.

Canisius President John J. Hurley returned to El Salvador with a delegation of Canisius administrators, alumni and friends earlier this month to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Jesuit Martyrs and to recall their courage, conviction and their willingness to say “yes,” in the face of violent oppression.
Terri L. Mangione, PhD, vice president for student affairs and dean of students, and Rev. Michael F. Tunney, S.J., director of mission and identity; accompanied President Hurley on the trip, as well as George Eberl ’68, former president, Eberl Iron Works; Maureen Schmitt, CEO of Schmitt Sales, Inc., and a member of the Canisius College Board of Regents;Denis Woods, PhD, and his wife, Eileen Dooley. Dr. Woods is a retired chair of the Political Science Department of Shepard College and former faculty member in the Political Science Department at Canisius.
The group’s activities included a Central American University Martyrs 25th Anniversary Commemoration, Mass in memory of Archbishop Romero, and a presentationregarding the case against Salvadoran officials, which is pending in the Spanish National Court.

Your Canisus women’s basketball team hosts its belated home opener on Wednesday evening versus the Albany Great Danes. Tip-off in the KAC is slated for 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 888-2885.
The Griffs were originally scheduled to play at home last Wednesday versus Binghamton, however the weather events of last week forced that game to be postponed to a future date.
