A memorial service for the late Rev. Robert A. Haus, S.J., will be held at Canisius College’s Christ the King Chapel on Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. Father Haus passed away on July 12 at Murray-Weigel Hall in Bronx, NY. He was 90 years old.
Father Haus served more than 50 years as a wise and enduring presence on the Canisius College campus. He spent four decades in the classroom as a professor of mathematics and was well-known amongst students for his exceptional ability to explain complex math problems with ease. Father Haus also served as a Jesuit counselor in Bosch Residence Hall, where he lived and became a trusted friend to countless Canisius resident students.
Born May 8, 1924 in Bronx, NY, Father Haus entered the Society of Jesus at St. Andrew-on-Hudson in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1942. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in philosophy from Boston College; a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame; and a licentiate of sacred theology degree from Woodstock College.
