Campus Ministry to Receive Group Volunteer Award by Meals on Wheels Foundation

Canisius College Campus Ministry is the recipient of the 2014 Group Volunteer Award by the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York.

The award is presented annually to corporations or organizations that have an exceptional history of involvement and leadership (through volunteer service) to Meals on Wheels.

For many years, Canisius Campus Minister Joe Van Volkenburg has tirelessly led the college’s Meals on Wheels efforts, coordinating volunteers to serve hot meals to the homebound and hungry of Buffalo. Volunteers have come from many areas of the college, particularly the Athletics Department who provided many hours of volunteer service in Hamlin Park with Meals on Wheels during the 2013 – 2014 academic year.

Van Volkenburg will accept the award on Campus Ministry’s behalf October 2 during Meals on Wheels “Plate Expectations” annual gala at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens.
