Canisius College honored the service milestones of nearly 70 employees on Friday, April 25 in the Montante Cultural Center, during the college’s annual Celebration of Service. John J. Hurley, college president, Rick A. Wall, PhD, vice president for academic affairs, Marco F. Benedetti, vice president for business and finance, and more than 200 family members, friends and Canisius community members were in attendance. The event acknowledged faculty, staff and administrator retirements, and those who have reached their 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45-year service anniversaries.
The ceremony began with an invocation by Rev. Thomas Colgan, SJ, campus minister, and a welcome by Wall. President Hurley, Wall and Benedetti presented the citations.

Kevin R. Hardwick, PhD, associate professor of political science and director of the Urban Studies Program, celebrated 25 years of service, and Michael V. Haselswerdt, PhD, professor of political science and director of the Fitzpatrick Institute of Public Affairs and Leadership, was recognized for 40 years of service – double bene merenti!
Following the presentation of 20- and 25-year citations, Cantio Sacra, under the direction of Bradley Wingert, performed several musical selections.
This is the 13th year that the college has held the Celebration of Service. Employees who have reached five, 10 and 15 years of service are honored at the Service Recognition Ceremony each fall.

Esther A. Northman, director of international partnerships and study abroad, was honored for her retired from the college.
