M. Fernanda Astiz, PhD, received the 2013 Hispanic Heritage Award from Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown on Tuesday, October 15. The honor was part of the city of Buffalo’s observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, which pays homage to the culture, tradition and contributions of American citizens with Hispanic roots. Astiz is an Argentine native and was recognized for her work in the field of education.
