The two ArtsCanisius events next week highlight works inspired by the written word.

Monday, September 23Meet-the-Faculty Recital at 12 p.m.

Features baritone James Wright and guest pianist Jannis Peterson in a performance of music by Franz Schubert (poetry of Friedrich Rückert), Robert Schumann (text from Joseph Eichendorff collection Intermezzo) and Gabriel Fauré (from the poetry of Louis Pomey, Armand Silvestre and Paul Verlaine).

Thursday, September 26  – Canisius College Composer-in-Residence at 2:30 p.m.

Persis Parshall  will present a lecture  entitled “Choosing Words.” Vehar will discuss how the choice of words is important to both vocal and instrumental music and illustrate that importance by playing musical examples, including some of her songs performed during the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
