Student Academic Support Services (SASS) provides students with the academic support, accommodations, and assistance they need to become successful lifelong learners. SASS includes the following areas: Tutoring Center, Study Center, Academic Mentoring Program, General Proctor Site, and Disability Support Services.

Staffing changes

  • The position of assistant director of SASS was eliminated as part of the reduction in force. Annie Dobies, associate dean of students and director of SASS, assumed the responsibilities of managing the daily operations of the Tutoring and Study Centers, in addition to running the Academic Mentoring Program and overseeing Disability Support Services. Jennifer Herrmann remains as the associate director of DSS and will have the primary responsibility of overseeing all the daily functions in DSS and the proctor site.

Location Changes and Operational Hours

  • All of SASS is now housed on the third floor of Old Main. The Disability Support Services Office and General Proctor Site relocated to Old Main 317. The Academic Mentoring Program is also housed in OM 317.
  • The Operational Hours for the DSS Office are Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • The Operational Hours for the General Proctor Site are Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. All make up exams may be scheduled during these times.
    Accommodations will be made on a case-by-case basis for students registered with DSS that have evening classes.
  • The Tutoring Center is now located in Old Main 315.
    The Study Center remains in Old Main 318.
  • New Operational Hours for Tutoring and Study Centers are Sunday 6-10 p.m., Monday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., Tuesday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Wednesday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The SI program has been dissolved to facilitate more tutoring hours for all academic disciplines. The regular tutoring schedule will continue to offer math, writing, science and accounting tutors during as many hours of operation as possible. On-call tutoring will continue on an as needed basis.

Employees needing specialized parking for temporary or chronic disability issues should contact the Human Resources Office.
