Western NY Campus Law Enforcement Meeting

A meeting was hosted this morning by Gary M. Everett and Canisius College Public Safety- The WNY Campus Law Enforcement Administrators Consortium. The key speakers were from the FBI, NYS Police and Central Police Services. Topics of discussion included bomb threat assessment /response and police training opportunities for public safety officers. Campus police from 15 college and university public safety departments and five police depts. attended.

Canisius Fund

Thank you to the nearly 200 committed faculty and staff who have contributed to the 2012-2013 Canisius Fund so far this year.

Your contributions totaling $70,000 have helped to augment financial aid and provide academic resources that make the Canisius experience a success by any measure.

Another of the MAAC Elite Visits KAC on Thursday

After hosting first place Niagara this past Sunday afternoon, your men’s basketball team jumps right back into action on Thursday evening when they host third place Loyola at 7 pm. The Greyhounds, with a 7-3 league mark, lead Canisius by a game in the conference standings. Loyola won last year’s MAAC title.

Volunteers Needed for Regional Science Olympiad

Canisius College is once again hosting the annual NYS Lake Erie/Niagara Region Science Olympiad competition on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Approximately 450 students from area high schools will be participating in the competition this year. Volunteers are needed to assist throughout the day in various capacities.

Those interested in volunteering should contact Lisa Fischer by Thursday, January 31 at x2120 or fischer7@canisius.edu. Any amount of time contributed will be appreciated as we still have numerous time slots to fill.

Each student will receive a certificate of participation from the NYS Science Olympiad organization. If you would like to learn more about the competition, please refer to the NYS Science Olympiad webpage: http://newyorkscioly.org/.

We hope that you are able to join us in supporting our regional high school students as they show off all of their hard work and dedication to the sciences.
