Dear Faculty,

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and college guidelines, each semester the Disability Support Services Office is responsible for notifying faculty of academic accommodations that may be necessary for students with disabilities who are registered with the DSS office. In the past, these notifications have been with a paper process. Beginning spring 2013 a new, electronic process will be implemented. We have been working closely with ITS to develop an electronic notification system which will be effective and efficient for you and meet the needs of our students.

This new system will be more budget and environmentally friendly, while making information more readily accessible.

To access the academic accommodation information for your students, please follow these steps:

  • Login to faculty portal at mycanisius.edu.
  • In online tool selection, click on All Applications and Services.
  • Under Faculty Services, click on Academic Accommodations.
  • It will automatically take you to the page where you can view courses for the current semester that have students with academic accommodations.
  • Once you have viewed the accommodation information for each student in each course, please check the box acknowledging you have viewed the information and click the Save Acknowledgements button to confirm receipt.

The academic accommodation information will be available in the faculty portal throughout the semester.

Please remember that this information is confidential and should be kept for your records only. Protecting the privacy rights of individuals with disabilities is a necessity and we appreciate your continued assistance and discretion.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact either myself, Jennifer Herrmann, at Ext. 3748 or herrman1@canisius.edu or Anne-Marie Dobies at dobies@canisius.edu.
