SMART Board User’s Group

A SMART Board User’s Group is forming! The SMART Board User’s Group will hold an inaugural meeting on Friday, November 9 at 1:30 p.m. in the Library Conference Room in the Lower Level of the library. The purpose of this group is to share ideas and learn new integration strategies for using the SMART Board in the classroom. If you don’t use a SMART Board but are interested in learning more, please feel free to attend.

At our first meeting to get us started with dialogue and sharing, I will highlight a few of the new features within SMART Notebook 11. We will also plan future meeting times and locations.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me, Jodi Moore at moore65@canisius.edu.

ITS workshop

Have you ever wanted to find out if there is an easier way to do something on a computer? Have you ever wished there was a workshop on something in the Microsoft Office Suite or another application? Voice your opinion. Here’s how we can help.

Would you find it easier to receive, grade, and return assignments without using paper? On November 7 there is a workshop on ANGEL drop boxes and discussion forums. On November 8 we’re hosting a workshop on grading with rubrics.

Do you have a survey that you would like to do? Did you know that Canisius has a survey application called Check Box that you can create, distribute electronically, and create reports? Yep there’s a workshop for that on November 9, 14 and 29.

Do you want to reduce the number of messages in your E-mail? Do you understand the E-mail retention policy? There are six workshops scheduled to help you manage this process, get rid of useless junk, and save that which is important.

Working online or want to? On November 11 there is a workshop for Online Course Development-you don’t have to leave your desk for this one. On November 16, find out how to use GoToMeeting, a web-based collaboration tool. You can use GoToMeeting for things other than teaching as well. Check it out. You may find that it can meet some of your needs.

Make scheduling meetings with several people an easier task with Outlook. There are three workshops that can help you do this painlessly and in much less time.

We have more Mac users on this campus today than ever before. Want to learn more about it? Want to use it more effectively? Come to any one or all three of the workshops that are being offered in November.

To sign up for a workshop, go to the Workshop Registration page and pick one or more that might help you. If you have any questions please contact Joe Rizzo at x8354.

Remember, we’re here to help you in your technology needs. Please let us do that for you.
