Visit the Curriculum Center on the first floor of the Bouwhuis Library, and try to imagine how a gift of 2000 books might impact the lives of little readers, or their parents, teachers or practice teachers. Now, add in the faculty, administrators and staff. Pretty soon, you’d need many more fingers and toes to keep track of your counting. But that didn’t stop Deb Beis. She imagined it, and made it happen.

On Thursday, October 25, Deborah Beis, adjunct professor of education, was honored for her contribution to the Library’s Curriculum Center. Her thoughtful donation of more than 2,000 books and other curricular resources has made it possible to line the shelves in the cozy corner Curriculm Center. These childrens and young adult books, including all of the Newbery and Caldecott winners, have made it possible for Canisius education majors, area school children, faculty, and others in the Canisius community and beyond to enhance their literacy skills or simply indulge in the fun of reading.

Thank you, Deborah Beis, for making our Curriculum Center a rich place of learning and enjoyment.
