Canisius College will be hosting a discernment workshop on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Christ the King Chapel. The workshop entitled Discernment for People of all Spiritual and Faith Journeys, will be presented by Jack Kennedy, M.Div, S.T.M.

Jack Kennedy is a highly-experienced spiritual director, supervisor and teacher. He is visiting Canisius College from Portland, Oregon, where for the last 15 years he has had a private practice in spiritual direction and supervision in the Ignatian tradition. He worked with a variety of people, from the Jesuit Volunteer Corps to those of different faith traditions. Very steeped in the Ignatian way of proceeding, he has 40 years of experience in facilitating key aspects of the Spiritual Exercises and discernment. A former Jesuit, Kennedy was the director of Loyola Retreat Center in Portland, Oregon. In addition to directing every kind of Ignatian retreat, Kennedy has been supervising spiritual directors, facilitating individual and group discernment processes, and teaching adult education in Ignatian discernment. He holds a degree in philosophy, and Master’s degrees in History, and theology (M.Div and S.T.M.).

Jack Kennedy is known for his lively workshops in which he typically engages participants in alternating processes of didactics, Ignatian prayer and discussion. We can expect a day that is very Ignatian in that it will integrate our faith, intellects and spiritualities.

Sponsored by the Buffalo Chapter of the Jesuit Collaborative, Canisius College & Campus Ministry, St. Joseph Center for Spirituality, St. Michael’s Parish and Canisius High School. The cost of the event is $10, payable at the door. Lunch will be served. Reserve your space by Saturday, October 20 by calling 716-759-6893 Ext. 175 or emailing vanverth@canisius.edu
