The 14th Annual Shoes for the Shelter 5K Run/Walk, presented by Independent Health, is April 15 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The race starts at noon and features live entertainment and plenty of food and awards after the event.
The event is for walkers, joggers and serious runners and benefits both St. Vincent dePaul and Golden Griffin athletics. Participants can enter either the one mile fun walk or the 5K Run/Walk by clicking here to register for the race.
In addition, used shoes will be collected prior to, and on, race day. Faculty and staff will find shoe collection bins located throughout campus on their return from spring break. Last year, more than 4,000 pairs of shoes were collected.
So, clean out those closets and bring in shoes for a good home. For additional information, or to receive a paper registration form, call Ext. 2977.
