President’s Forum Monday (February 27)

Faculty and staff are invited to attend a campus forum where Canisius President John J. Hurley will discuss the details of the budget situation on Monday, February 27 at 2:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.  The vice presidents and the members of the college’s Senior Operating Team will be present.  There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion by the campus community.

Pilot Fitness Program Offered By Independent Health

Canisius College is in search of 10 employees to be part of FitStart, a pilot fitness program of Independent Health in partnership with YMCA Buffalo Niagara.  Participants must be enrolled in the college’s health insurance plan to be considered for the FitStart program.

FitStart is a free, 12-week exercise program designed around the concept of small group personal training.  Employees will meet with a personal trainer, participate in a one hour group personal training sessions (as well as exercise at least two additional days per week) and receive a three month membership to the YMCA of their choice.

To participate, complete the entry form found here and return it to Dawn Rotterman in the Office of Human Resources by March 2.  Names will be drawn at random. Winners will be contacted by representatives from Independent Health and the YMCA.

Author Aryn Kyle Next In Contemporary Writers Series

Best-selling author Aryn Kyle will speak as part of the 2012 Contemporary Writers Series on Wednesday (February 29) at 7:30 p.m. in the Grupp Fireside Lounge.  The event is free and open to the public.

Kyle is the author of the novel The God of Animals and Boys and Girls Like You and Me, a collection of stories.  Her fiction has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, Ploughshares and Best American Short Stories, among others.

Human Resources Looking For Upcoming Retirements

The Canisius College’s Celebration of Service, scheduled for Friday, April 27 at 3 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center, will honor faculty and staff members who will be retiring in 2012.  Those who are planning on retirement from Canisius College in 2012, either before or after the April ceremony, are asked to contact the Office of Human Resources at Ext. 2247.
