Quebecois Film Festival 2012 Opens February 6

The 2012 Quebecois Film Festival will take place from February 6-12.  All weekday showings take place in Regis North, while the two weekend showings will be in the Montante Cultural Center.  All films will be shown in French with English subtitles, and a group discussion follows each film.  Admission is free and open to the public.

The schedule includes:

Monday, February, 6 – Mon Oncle Antoine in Regis North 2 – 4 p.m. (discussion led by Girish Shambu, PhD, associate professor of management) and 7 – 9 p.m. (discussion led by Rev. George Restrepo, S.J., assistant to the director of student life).

Tuesday, February, 7 – Incendies in Regis North 2 – 4 p.m. (discussion led by Eileen M. Angelini, PhD, professor of French) and 7 – 9 p.m. (discussion led by Michael Gent, PhD, professor of management/marketing, and Fr. Restrepo).

Wednesday, February, 8 – Aurore in Regis North 2 – 4 p.m. (Discussion led by Jean-Jacques Thomas, PhD, associate director of Canadian Studies for Québec Affairs and Programs at State University of New York at Buffalo) and 7 – 9 p.m. (Discussion led by Fr. Restrepo).

Thursday, February, 9 – Aurore in Regis North 2 – 4 p.m. (Discussion led by Eileen M. Angelini, PhD)

Friday, February, 10 – Polytechnique in Regis North 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. (both discussions led by Nico Lorgnier, PhD, assistant professor, sport administration)

Saturday, February 11 Maurice Richard in Montante Cultural Center 7 – 9 p.m. (discussion led by Eileen M. Angelini, PhD, and Michel Vigneault, PhD, l’Université de Québec à Montréal, historical consultant for Maurice Richard)

Sunday February 12- Maurice Richard in Montante Cultural Center 2 – 4 p.m. (Discussion led by Eileen M. Angelini, PhD, and Michel Vigneault, PhD)

TIAA CREF Representative On Campus

Jason Sciotti, individual consultant for TIAA CREF, will be on campus in the Student Center Conference room for individual counseling sessions Tuesday, February 28.  He will meet with individuals to review and discuss current investments, answer questions, and review their options to help meet retirement goals.

Synchro Home This Weekend (February 3-4)

The championship winning Golden Griffin synchronized swim team is home this weekend.  Canisius, which is coming off a first place finish at the Boston University meet last weekend, hosts Lindenwood (MO) on Friday (February 3) at 7 p.m. in a figures meet and then takes on Wheaton and Lindenwood at Noon on Saturday (February 4) in a competition that will feature the Griffs spectacular team routine.

Free New Era Caps At Hockey Game

Free New Era caps will be given away at the Griffs hockey game this Saturday (February 4) when Canisius hosts Robert Morris in an Atlantic Hockey contest at 7 p.m. in the Buffalo State Sports Arena.  The Griffs and Colonials are separated by four points in the standings with eight games remaining.
