The School of Education and Human Services will host two open meetings next week to share with the Canisius College community the plans for the Educational Partnership Organization (EPO) with Waterfront Elementary School. The meetings will take place in Old Main Room 223 on Wednesday, January 25, from Noon – 1:30 p.m. and Friday, January 27, from 2 – 3:30 p.m. All faculty and staff are invited to this session by Michael Pardales, PhD, dean of the School of Education & Human Services, and David Hills, principal of Waterfront Elementary School.
The Waterfront School was identified by the State of New York as Persistently Low Achieving (PLA). In partnership with the Graduate School of Education at Fordham University, Canisius College submitted a proposal to partner with Waterfront and its faculty, leadership, and parents to improve student achievement at the school.
Approved by the Buffalo Public Schools and the Buffalo Board of Education, the Canisius College EPO proposal awaits final approval from the State Education Department. Once approved, the work begins July 1 and is supported by New York State for three years.
