Retirement Reception For Trowbidge January 10

After 25 years of service, Connie Trowbridge, associate director for human resources, will retire on Friday, January 13.  An informal reception for her will be held Tuesday (January 10) from 3 – 4:30 p.m. in Grupp Fireside Lounge.  All are invited to stop by to wish her well.

Christmas Luncheon Celebrates The Season Of Giving


Canisius President John J. Hurley (left) joined Patricia Creahan, APRN, BC (right), director of student health, and other Canisius employees for the annual Christmas Mass and luncheon on December 21.  Hundreds of non-perishable food items were donated by Canisius faculty and staff to benefit the Little Portion Friary in Buffalo.

Annual Kids Day Game Brings Thousands To KAC

The Koessler Athletic Center will sound like millions of girls and boys on Monday (January 9) for the annual Kid’s Day game as the Griffs women’s basketball team hosts Iona at 11 a.m.  Fifteen city and suburban elementary schools will send 35 busloads of children to the game sponsored by Independent Health.  A dozen local mascots are also expected to attend and WKBW-TV’s Shawn Stepner will host the halftime show.  The game is officially listed as a sell-out.

Prior to Monday’s game, the Canisius women will host St. Peter’s on Saturday (January 7) at 2 p.m.  For additional information on both games, visit www.gogriffs.com.

Suicide Prevention Training For Faculty, Staff January 11

Faculty and staff are invited to attend a suicide prevention training offered by the Counseling Center on Wednesday, January 11 from Noon – 1:30 p.m. in Regis North.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in a QPR, the CPR for suicide prevention.  QPR stands for Question… the student about suicide, Persuade…the student to get help, and Refer…the student for help.  Those who have participated in this workshop previously are encouraged to take it again to refresh their skills.
