Baseball Concludes Regular Season

The final home events on the 2010-11 sports calendar will take place this week as the Golden Griffin baseball team concludes its regular season with a crucial three game set versus Niagara.  The three game series will commence with a doubleheader on Thursday (May 19).  First pitch is scheduled for Noon.  The final game will be played on Friday (May 20), also at Noon.

Canisius has already clinched the Canal Cup, signifying annual supremacy against its MAAC and Little Three rival.

Registration Open For Canisius Corporate Challenge Team

All faculty and staff are invited to join the Canisius College Corporate Challenge Team.  This year’s race is Thursday, June 9 at 6:45 p.m. and is a 3.5 mile course which begins and ends at Delaware Park.  A pre-race tent party will start at 5 p.m.  Chartwells will provide food and refreshments after the race.  The entry fee is $20 for Canisius employees or $35 for guests and includes the post-race party.  The cost for the tent party only is $5.  Contact team captain Gary Lew at Ext. 2255 or lew@canisius.edu for more information.

TIAA CREF Representative On Campus May 26

Bill Stark, individual consultant for TIAA CREF, will be on campus in the Student Center Conference room for individual counseling sessions Thursday, May 26.  He will meet with individuals to review and discuss current investments, answer questions, and review their options to help meet retirement goals.

TIAA CREF offers individual retirement counseling sessions on campus each month.  TIAA CREF has partnered with Ibbotson Associates to provide participants with objective advice and planning tools.  The “Advice” software program can help participants identify long-term financial goals and develop strategies to meet them.  This service is confidential and free of charge.

Baseball Back In Action This Weekend

The Canisius baseball team begins a six game homestand to conclude the 2011 regular season with a three game set versus Fairfield.  The Griffs and Stags will meet in a Noon doubleheader on Saturday (May 14) and a single contest on Sunday (May 15), which will also start at Noon.

The Griffs are in a titanic struggle with Fairfield, Siena and Marist for the final two of four MAAC playoff spots.  The Griffs enter this weekend in a deadlock with both Marist and Fairfield for the fourth and final spot.  Siena sits one game ahead in third.
