“Enough Project” Concert Friday (April 1)

The Canisius College Chapter of Amnesty International will host a benefit concert on April 1 to support “The Enough Project,” the project to end genocide and crimes against humanity.  The concert will be held at 6 pm in the Montante Cultural Center.

Jarrod Gorbel of the Honorary Title will perform, as well as Buffalo’s own Inlite. The program will also feature a refugee speaker.

Tickets are $5.00 presale for Canisius Students, or $7 at the door; and $10 for the general public. Tickets will be on sale today and Friday in front of the main dining hall from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Ignatian Scholarship Day Schedule Now Set

More than 450 graduate and undergraduate students, as well as almost 50 off-campus guests from some of Canisius’ partnership schools, are scheduled to participate in Ignatian Scholarship Day Friday, April 15.  Posters, papers, multimedia presentations, musical performances, and artistic displays are now being completed and readied.  The Canisius Chorale, under the direction of Frank Scinta, will end the day with a concert at 7 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.

Faculty members are reminded to bring their classes to take advantage of the many opportunities to view the tremendous work done this year by Canisius students.  Please make plans now to join in the many, varied activities of the day.

Shoes For The Shelter 5K April 10


The 13th Annual Shoes for the Shelter 5K, presented by Independent Health, will be held April 10 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  All members of the Canisius community are invited to participate in either the one mile fun walk at 11:40 a.m. or the 5K race/walk at Noon.

Save money by registering in advance at www.gogriffs.com.  Advance, online registration ends April 7.  Pre and post-race entertainment will be provided by The Keepers.

In addition, everyone is encouraged to do some spring cleaning around the house this week and drop off any old or unwanted sneakers or shoes in one of the conveniently located Shoes for the Shelter drop boxes located around campus.  Boxes can be found in the Koessler Athletic Center (KAC), Student Center Dining Hall, lower level of the Student Center (Outside the C-Block office), Old Main Cafe, Health Science Center, Delavan Townhouses, Lyons Hall and Frisch Laundry Room.  Approximately 13,000 pairs of shoes have been collected since 2001.  When dropping off, please make sure pairs of shoes are attached so they do not get separated.

Financial Seminars To Be Presented By TIAA CREF

TIAA-CREF financial seminars will be conducted on Thursday (March 31) in Lyons Hall, Room 118 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Chris Trombetta, TIAA-CREF managing consultant, will discuss early and mid-career investment strategy at the 10 a.m. seminar.  He will discuss retirement options for participants either preparing for or thinking of retirement in the next five years at the 2 p.m. seminar.  All seminar materials will be available in the Department of Human Resources for those unable to attend.
