Ignatian Scholarship Day April 15

Canisius College will hold its fourth annual Ignatian Scholarship Day on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the second floor of the Student Center, Montante Cultural Center and other campus venues.  This event showcases the research, scholarship, and performances of our undergraduate and graduate students through poster displays, paper/multimedia presentations, two or three-dimensional art, or artistic performances (poetry, drama, vocal or instrumental music) throughout the day, as well as a concert by the music department in the evening.

This event is an opportunity for every student to submit the best work from the current or a previous semester for exhibit, presentation, or performance in a conference environment similar to that of a learned society or organization.  Participating in the event is a mark of high quality academic and creative work.  Each student presentation must be endorsed by a member of the Canisius full-time or adjunct faculty, staff or administration.  Approval implies that the work has been seen and the endorser believes it is worthy of college-wide presentation.  All endorsed proposals will be in the celebration.

Students will electronically submit an abstract describing their work (the form will be available beginning February 1 on the Ignatian Scholarship Day website).  Once the student completes and submits the form online, the application is automatically forwarded to the conference mailbox.  At the same time, endorsers will receive a confirmation that the form has been submitted and once approved, endorsement will electronically be sent to the conference mailbox.

Please note the following timeline:

Tuesday, February 1, 2011: Student online submission and endorser approval process begins

Tuesday, March 1, 2011: Deadline for completed student abstracts submitted online

Tuesday, March 8, 2011: Deadline for faculty endorsement process
