New Provider For Life Insurance, Long Term Disability Plans

The Canisius College life insurance and long term disability plans are now provided by the Prudential Insurance Company.  The college is holding an open enrollment period for faculty and staff who wish to make changes to their optional life insurance plan.  Faculty and staff should watch their mailboxes for enrollment and beneficiary materials.

This is also an excellent opportunity to update beneficiary information for coverage under these plans.  Please contact Human Resources at Ext. 3151 with any questions.  Please note that this change applies to non-union plans.

“Women as Metaphor in the Work of John Sloan”

John Sloan, The Swing

Anne Reed, adjunct professor of fine arts, will give a talk entitled “Women as Metaphor in the Work of John Sloan” today (November 15) at noon in the Regis Room.  This lecture is part of the ArtsCanisius Meet-the-Faculty series, and is free and open to the public.

Reed will discuss how John Sloan’s images of women reflect the complexities of the American city in the early 20th century.  Sloan’s representations of laundresses, prostitutes, seamstresses, and other typical figures of the European tradition are contextualized within the American urban milieu as metaphors of the city itself.

For more information, contact Justine Price at Ext. 2531 or price11@canisius.edu.
