Within statistics, the Hypergeometric Distribution represents the number of successful outcomes when sampling from a given set, without replacement. While this has many applications in data analysis, my presentation will focus on Magic: The Gathering, which is played by drawing cards from your deck. This is perfect for showing Hypergeometric Distribution in action.
I really like that you chose a topic that is very important in data analysis. The Hypergeometric Distribution is a significant statistical topic with wide applications. I am hoping to go into a career in statistics, so this is particularly interesting to me. I am looking forward to your application of Magic: The Gathering, as it sounds like a fun way to illustrate an important concept!
It is interesting to see how probability and statistics can be used in playing games such as drawing cards from a deck. It is also interesting to learn about more distributions that we haven’t seen before in class. I’m excited to see hypergeometric distribution displayed through a deck of cards!
I studied quite a bit of statistical analysis in high school, so it was very interesting to see how exactly more advanced versions can be applied to every day activities like card games and chance.
Your talk was really interesting! I really liked how your talk was centered around one application of hypergeometric distribution. It made it very easy to follow what you were talking about throughout your talk. I am interested in how math applies to games, so that made your talk fun to listen to.
OOOOOO magic in your presentation! Your talk sounds like it will be very interesting! I cant wait to learn about hypergeometric distribution.
I had never heard of this game but it sounds very interesting. I think it’s cool that you can relate to a seemingly “math-less” concept such as a card game. I love to see connections between math and outside entities.
