So here we are. The semester is complete. My coursework is complete. Graduation is complete. But now begins a countdown to what I have been waiting for my whole life. I have accepted a position with the United States Anti-Doping Agency and I will begin work in Colorado Springs on June 6th. I can not tell you how excited I am for this opportunity and for the rest of my life. Canisius College has done everything to help me accomplish this goal and start a career. I owe Canisius a lot. Dr. O’Rourke truly cares for his students in the Sport Administration program and I couldn’t ask for a better advisor. The people that I have met will be with me for the rest of my life. I will be leaving Buffalo in a week, but I will never forget Canisius, garbage plates, late nights in the library, going to Purple Monkey the first day of class, trivia at Thirsty Buffalo, the Sabres, Duff’s, Jim’s, walking down Elmwood, the vast amount of Subway I consumed before every class, and the people I have met who have helped me every step of the way.
Canisius was a risk for me. I came here from North Carolina not knowing a person within 300 miles. But I couldn’t have made a better choice to continue my education. I can proudly say that Canisius College is my Alma Mater.
Hey everyone! I hope that everybody had a great spring break! I know that I did. Coming back was definitely tough but I feel like I’m back in the swing of things. There is less than two months of school before I graduate, so my excitement and nervousness is increasing daily. I have a lot of things to get done before graduation so these next couple of weeks should be pretty busy.
First I’ll talk about my spring break. I went home last Thursday and flew back to Buffalo on Monday. It was great to go home for a few days and see my family. My brother had just moved back from Australia so I was able to see him for the first time in a while. I had an amazing time just relaxing and watching basketball.
In other news, I interviewed for a Public Relations position today. The job is in Minnesota which is something different. I have never been there but I’m applying to jobs all over. I was happy to get the interview and have the opportunity to sell myself. I feel that the more practice I can get (more…)
Hello everyone! I hope that everybody has had a good couple of weeks since we last communicated. I’ve been doing my consistent routine of work, class, and internship. It’s really starting to wind down so the job search is getting into crunch time.
I will be going home for a weekend during our spring break. I am really looking forward to going home because I haven’t been since September. It will be good to get some home cooked food and sleep in my bed and see my parents.
Today I have been working on an assignment for my Media Relations class. We had to examine game notes released by athletic departments and analyze how those notes are used for a broadcast. It was a fun assignment that really changes the way that you watch a basketball game (more…)
It’s been a while since I have logged on so I’ll try not to be rusty. First off, I hope that everyone had a great Christmas break and a happy new year! I was fortunate enough to see my family (minus my brother) in Indiana for the Christmas season and I had a great time with them. I was back in Buffalo on Christmas day because I had to work the next day. But I enjoy my work so it’s not that bad! I spent New Year’s Eve with a couple of guys from the MSA program and we were just hanging out downtown until the early morning.
So bask to this semester. I will be graduating from Canisius College this May! How crazy is that? I can’t believe that I will be done with my Master’s degree so soon. It’s very exciting but always a little nerve-wracking as well. I am in full force on the job hunt right now, which is always (more…)
Hello everyone! So we are winding down to the end of the semester. It is in sight for us all. I’m looking forward to finishing this semester up and seeing my family for the first time in a while. I’ll be flying to Indianapolis on the 20th to spend Christmas at my sister’s house. My parents will be there too and I can’t wait to see everyone. It will be a short break (I’m flying back on Christmas day) due to my work schedule. The Capitals will visit Buffalo on the 26th and I will be working that day. So, it’s not a bad thing to get back for.
Finals are coming to a conclusion. I will be submitting my Leadership final tonight and I just received my Marketing final today (due on Friday). I’m looking forward to getting these finals completed to have a little bit of time to relax before gearing up for my final semester of grad school. I can’t believe that I’ll be getting my Master degree in the spring.
Everyone have a great exam week. I’ll check in again before the semester is over.
