Weathering the storm

Weathering the storm

The weather that last few days have been brutal here to say the least.  I don’t mind Thunderstorms, but it’s done a lot of damage around the area I live, a lot of power outages and accidents.  Also a little bit of hail, I have a friend who has huge dents in their car from the quarter sized hail, hopefully the weather will improve for the rest of the week. Finally finished

Finally finished

Well I got all of my grades back for summer semester, and I’m happy with how I did, but now I’m even more stressed about the job hunt than ever.  I had an interview on Monday, on the phone with an NFL team, haven’t heard back about it yet, but he said I would hear back from them, so hopefully I hear either way soon.  I’ve been applying to jobs, pretty much every day.  (more…)

Well Hello August!

Well Hello August!

The month of July flew by, I think a lot of it is because I was doing school work and enjoying New York City.  I submitted my last final on Saturday night (24 hours early, thank you very much), and it’s odd now, because I feel like I should still be doing homework.  I’ve been checking out a lot of sports books, and keeping an eye on the NFL Labor agreement and NHL trades.  There’s also a charity hockey game here this Sunday (8/7) in Rochester, it’s for Craig Charron.  Ryan Callahan, Marty Biron, Current & Former Amerks, and my good friend Dan Ringwald are all slated to play, and some Sabres may be showing up as well.  I went to the event last year and it was a ton of fun to watch and a great cause, and autograph’s after.

I’ve been bored since getting home from NYC, I worked a bunch when I got back, we are getting our store remodeled, so I helped pack it all up, looks so strange with no product on the shelf, but our store is due for an upgrade, stuff is starting to fall apart.  So now our store is closed until the end of August, meaning I have NOTHING to do.  I have be hanging out with the kids I babysit and catching up with people here in Rochester.  I also had an interview for a teaching position at RIT, and it seemed pretty positive, so hopefully next week I can let you all know for sure.  I’m also prepping for my sister in law’s baby shower, which is August 21st.  I’m so excited to have a little niece or nephew, October can’t come soon enough (that also means hockey will be starting, what could be better?)

Alright, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, and I hope we get some great weather for August.

Feeling the Heat

Feeling the Heat

Sorry my post is late, the beginning of the week got away from me and I was trying to get ahead on my assignments for the week. I’m heading back to Rochester next week to help with a project for a few days. Still no word from jobs here in the city, but I keep applying and have made a bunch of contacts so hopefully something will turn up. I still can’t believe I’m almost done with my Masters program. I’m proud of myself for getting it done so quickly, but am also not looking forward to my loans coming in the near future. I’ve been talking to a lot of friends who have recently graduated and they are all trying to find jobs, and becoming very frustrated as well. (more…)

3 more weeks…

3 more weeks…

So it’s already week 3 of summer session #2, and that means I’m 3 weeks from graduation. This is both exciting and stressful, I’d say more stressful than anything, just because my student loans will be due soon enough, and I’m panicking about getting a job. My one class is going well, it seems “easier” just because I’m taking it by itself so I only have 1 class to worry about, so I’m keeping on top of things. (more…)
