Welcome to the Griff Parent program at Canisius College!
We’re excited to be a part of your family’s college journey. Your student is entering a phase of life that will be filled with self-discovery and growth. As a parent, you are now entrusting your son or daughter to our care which will undoubtedly bring about a range of emotions in the process. We understand the importance of the involvement of parents and other family members as students take on new experiences.
The Griff Parent program was implemented as a means of providing you with the information, resources, guidance and gentle pat on the back that you may need to actively support your student’s experiences at Canisius. The program is a component of the Griff Center for Academic Engagement which provides a holistic approach to supporting our students as they navigate college life.
During the academic year, you will receive a monthly issue of this e-newsletter which will provide timely information, important dates, etc. intended to assist you as you help your student make a smooth transition from high school to college. If you know of a family member who would like to subscribe to this newsletter, you may direct them to the “Subscribe to our Griffparent Newsletter” widget on the right side of this page.
Please keep an eye on your email for additional information which will be sent periodically over the course of the next 8 or 9 weeks to keep you and your student on-track before orientation begins on August 24th.
In closing, just as your student will have the full support of the Griff Center, the goal of the Griff Parent program will be to enable you to understand and embrace your new role as a college parent; making this transitional year easier for each of you.
The Griff Center staff looks forward to meeting you in August at New Student Orientation.
Enjoy this new journey with your student!
