Your student should be in the process of transitioning out of their pediatrician’s practice. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians recommend that young adults make the switch to adult care between the ages of 18 to 21 years. This also includes moving to adult specialty care providers.
Summer is the perfect time for parents to support their young adults as they move from pediatric care to adult care.
