Preparing for the End of the Semester
This is the time of the semester when the stress level among students is at an all-time high, when students begin to realize that their time management skills were not idea and there is still a great deal of work to do in a short period of time. The Griff Center offers a variety of workshops throughout the semester on various topics, including time management skills, and how to manage stress. These workshops are great resources for students to take advantage of throughout the semester; the dates and times of these workshops are listed below:
Time Management – Thursday, November 30, 2017 – 3-4pm, Horan O’Donnell 014
Melting into the Floor – Thursday, December 7, 2017 – 3-4pm, Palisano Pavilion Penfold Commons
Encourage your student to study smarter and not harder for finals. The video below is a great resource for your student to use as they prepare for final exams.

Tutoring Services, located in Old Main 315 are another great resource for your student to use. Services are available Sunday 6 -9pm, Monday – Thursday 11am – 9pm, Friday 11am – 1pm.
Aside from regular tutoring services, review sessions will also be offered in a variety of academic subjects in preparation for final exams.

While it can be difficult during this time of the semester, give your student some space and and be as supportive as possible. This is part of the process of becoming more independent. For some students, the grades that they receive will be a mark of a successful transition from high school to college. Other students may become disheartened by their grades for the semester. Remind your student that the first semester of college is a time of learning and assimilating all that is new and unfamiliar. Encourage your student to seek out all available resources to support their academic experiences.
