We are spotlighting Alyia Ruggles as our tutor of the month. Alyia is a junior Chemistry Major with a minor in Environmental Biology. She tutors both Chemistry and Biology for Tutoring Services. Alyia is one of our busiest tutors, not only for her ability to do Chemistry and Biology, but for many other reasons. She always comes to work with a positive and friendly demeanor. Both subjects, often cause many students stress while they are trying to understand the material. Alyia helps ease the anxieties of her tutees and makes them much more confident with completing their work.

In addition to working as a tutor, Alyia is also a Resident Assistant for Student Life. She is actively involved with the Unity Club on campus and serves as Event Coordinator on the e-board. She also has the unique experience of being a coxswain for the Canisius Men’s Rowing Team.
Alyia serves as a lab assistant for Dr. Costanzo’s research team. When she graduates from Canisius, she would like to go on to graduate school and eventually earn her PhD. She aspires to land a career in environmental research, with a focus on the removal and remediation of environmental pollutants. Overall, Alyia is a very well rounded student and a great role model for her peers. We appreciate all of her hard work in Tutoring Services with creating a welcoming and enriching environment for students.
