If you have recently filed your 2017-18 FAFSA application, you may have noticed that the IRS Data Retrieval Tool was unavailable for you to upload your 2015 income tax information. The IRS has been working to resolve this issue but does not anticipate a resolution in the foreseeable future.
This will not affect your ability to apply for financial aid as the online FAFSA application is still operational.
If you have not yet filed the 2017-18 FAFSA, Canisius College is asking returning students to file the application as soon as possible. However, instead of using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to upload your 2015 tax information, you will be required to manually enter the income tax information via a copy of your tax return. If you no longer have a copy of your tax returns available, you may request a copy from your tax preparer or request a transcript / copy from the IRS.
Important to note: In the event that your FAFSA application is flagged for verification – all requested documentation must be submitted to the Student Records & Financial Services Office by June 30th to remain eligible for all types of aid. Financial Aid Awards may be reduced after this date.
As always, if you have questions, please contact the Student Records & Financial Services Office at 800-238-8160 or by emailing email@example.com.
