My name is Sarah Lynch and I am interning in the sales marketing department at NBCUniversal and Telemundo CT this summer. My responsibilities are to assist with the creation and development of sales marketing materials including custom sales presentations, campaign recaps, performance highlights, and one sheets along with light graphics work (this may include building display ads, flyers and contest graphics in Photoshop), participate in brainstorming sessions with sales team to develop creative solutions for advertisers, and generate ideas for advertisers that could lead to new sources of revenue by staying on top of current events, market trends, emerging business categories and competitive efforts to identify innovative revenue streams. In addition, I will work with a cross-functional team to track and execute marketing initiatives as well as with the various departments responsible for deliverables (finance to purchase contesting prizes, web to launch online campaigns, creative services to produce, etc.), assist in coordinating commercial production and lifestyle show workflows that include gathering elements from sales reps, scheduling projects, overseeing edits and attending shoots to get products on-air in a timely fashion, and help with the execution and build of social media contesting and promotion: writing and confirming rules & regulations with legal, crafting copy and imagery for use on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, submitting production requests for creative, reconciling winners, and recapping campaign success. Finally, I will ensure customer satisfaction in pre- and post-sales service, monitor the delivery of cross-platform campaigns to ensure communication between sales production and client is easy and effective to solidify renewal, help coordinate marketing, event and community activities by tracking event dates, identifying resources necessary for events (marketing collateral, promotional giveaways, news coverage, volunteers), distributing tickets, ordering supplies and assisting in on-site execution as needed, and provide various administrative support on daily tasks.

In terms of my anticipation leading up to the internship, I hope to learn many valuable skills in the news industry. In particular, I want to become familiar with the sales and marketing terms used in Spanish through the Telemundo portion of NBCUniversal. I am excited to begin on June 7th, and look forward to working with my internship supervisor. I am settling in quite well as I went the week before my start date to the offices to make sure I knew where to park and what entrance to report to. I also received an email with an invitation to the intern orientation with other students who will be working there this summer. Overall, I am very excited for this experience and cannot wait to see what this summer holds for me at NBCUniversal!
