The networking event I went to was a zoom meeting about confidence. This was specifically for athletes. I learned so much about confidence in not only an athletic aspect, but a life and job aspect. The biggest takeaway I got is that men generally have more confidence than women, and that is a big reason why men get better paying jobs. There were primarily athletes on this zoom, and what I learned, was to be confident in your skills– even if you are faking it, confidence gets you way further in life than lacking confidence. He also stressed to not be overly confident, but having confidence in your skills even if you do not have a huge resume due to being a college athlete. It was definitely fun, but still a little stressful because it is hard to be confident in your skills and demand the higher end of pay in an interview, because of fear of being declined the job. Overall it was a great experience though.
