Overall, I enjoyed my internship. I learned a lot of new information regarding digital editing and producing along with how the public media world works. At the beginning of the semester I set goals to create a varied portfolio documenting my development, becoming proficient in Adobe Premiere and Audition, and becoming fluent in producing and directing. I also stated that I will know my internship has become a success when I no longer need to ask for help on projects and the outcome of my work is exceeding my executive producer’s expectations. I can honestly say that I achieved almost all of these goals. Throughout my internship I was given a lot of projects which included editing in both Premiere and Audition. Through these projects I was able to become much more comfortable working in both of these Adobe software packages. I feel as though I have a fluency in producing but never had the opportunity to work in the directing side of the media realm. With all of the projects that I worked on, I believe that I was given the appropriate projects to show strong portfolio development. I was pleased that when I was messaged my executive producer today about what I finalized while at work, she was extremely happy with my work. This checks the box of exceeding my executive producer’s expectations. I also have not needed to ask for help while at work– I simply show up and get to work knowing what needs to be completed. I would say that this internship was a success and that I had a great time learning over the course of this semester. While I enjoyed the experience and would like to continue to work within the realm of digital media and presentation, I would like to pursue a position with much more person to person interaction/communication, and less time in front of a screen.
