As of three weeks ago, I started my very first internship with PUNT. PUNT is a non-profit pediatric cancer collaborative right here in Buffalo. They work very closely with the big names in Buffalo including our very own Bills. This is a profound organization with a small but mighty team. I am proud to be a part of this team and surprise surprise, a Division I athlete works better in a team. There is my boss, two coordinators, and me, the intern! My supervisor is Madison, she is one of the coordinators. She is the supervisor every intern can only dream of, I’m very lucky I get to work with such a young and inclusive person that values my opinion!

I was quite nervous to start this internship because on my first day it sounded like all social media work. I did that all Summer and was upset at the idea I’d be doing it all Fall as well. Not that I don’t love creating posts and content, I just wanted to dip my toes in something new. Those worries left after I found out it was only for the month of September. The reason is that September is pediatric cancer awareness month, so a lot of content will be posted, events will be held, and gold will be worn!

I think it is more than normal to go into an internship unsure, have doubts, or even second thoughts because you are doing something you’ve never done before. Trust me, after my first day at my internship I questioned if I had even taken the right major over the last three years. Sometimes you have to let yourself adapt to uncomfortable environments.
