Back To Buffalo State Broadcasting

Hello there everyone, I am Hunter Lobur Cummins, a senior majoring in Journalism/Sports Broadcasting and Communication Studies here at Canisius College. I am interning at Buffalo State College as a play-by-play broadcaster for sports teams at the college. I also write game previews and recaps for the athletics website. This is my second semester there, as I did the same duties last semester for different seasonal sports. This time around, I will be calling football and soccer games, my first time calling these sports collegiately. I have called high school football before, so I have experience with the sport. I have not called any soccer games before though, so I’ll need to make sure I can follow the fast movement of the ball on the field with my eyes and voice. For writing the game previews, those include a short introduction to the matchup, a small section detailing the Bengals’ last performance and who stood out, the same for the opponent, and then a short section about the history of the matchup and the score of the last time the two teams would have played against each other. I call my first football and soccer game on 9/17, so the picture included is of me calling a hockey game last semester. I look forward to spending more time at Buffalo State College behind the microphone!
