Hello everyone! My name is Liana Posella, a senior at Canisius College double majoring in Psychology and Communication Studies. I am also minoring in Human Resource Management. I am currently completing an internship at Erie County Medical Center in the Human Resources department. The picture that is attached to this blog is me in the HR Experience room! It’s a new room that was created with the intent of making all paperwork and paper forms digitized, making it easier to stay organized and create a self-service environment.
In the ECMC HR department, my responsibilities are to help out with anything that I can. I have already completed a multitude of projects that have helped keep the department current and orderly. I have only been to my internship twice, however, I have already been taught a few important aspects of HR. I have become more comfortable using excel spreadsheets on a professional level and have learned a multitude of information in the recruitment department. For example, I have come to know how to make reference calls and how to organize new hires prior to orientation.
Leading up to the internship I was incredibly nervous. This being my first internship, I was not sure what to expect. I have never done anything related to HR outside of coursework. Despite all this, I was very much enthused about my first day and excited to start something that could possibly be a big part of the rest of my life!
Overall, I am very happy to continue my internship at ECMC. This will be a very rewarding experience for me, and I look forward to learning as much as I can about HR!
