As I finish out my last few days at Kaleida Health in the Human Resources department, located in the Larkin Building, I am able to reflect on what an amazing experience I have had throughout this semester as an intern. I have worked with so many different individuals in many different departments, and experienced things that I never thought I would be able to.

I was able to spend a few weeks working in the Labor Relations department at Kaleida, working with grievances, learning the process of terminating an employee from the company and many different legal aspects of employee relations. As an intern at Kaleida, I was promised a full and resourceful experience, which is exactly what I got. For three days of my internship, I spent my time at Buffalo General Medical Center as well at Oshei’s Children’s Hospital, working with site HR and learning what it is like to be right in the middle of the chaos. During my time here, I sat in on many meetings with HR representatives, and even witnessed an in-person interview with the nurse recruiter at Buffalo General. During the pandemic, it is rare to have in-person interviews at the Larkin Building, so being able to have meetings and interviews face-to-face is something I was extremely lucky to witness during my time there.

This internship taught me so much about my future. I gained many connections with individuals that I will most definitely reach out to in the future and many memories that I will not forget.
