Hi everyone! My name is Sierra Kenney and I am a senior Digital Media Arts and Communication Studies student at Canisius College. Going into my final semester at Canisius, I was searching for an internship where I could get hands-on professional filmmaking experience. I was very lucky to get the opportunity to intern at Full Circle Studios, a video and digital media production company in Buffalo, New York. Full Circle Studios produces videos for television, non-profit organizations, corporations, and more. You can view the organization’s highlight reel here: https://fullcirclestudios.com/highlight-videos/

Throughout the semester at Full Circle Studios, I will be working with the Niagara River Greenway to promote their nonprofit organization. I will be writing an outline for a video about high school students and ecology in the Buffalo area, and then going out to film interviews with students and professionals. I have had Zoom meetings with the clients at the Niagara River Greenway so they can articulate exactly what types of videos they want. I am very excited to get b-roll footage for this project in the trails, landmarks, and ecology surrounding the Niagara River Greenway. I anticipate getting more professional experience interacting with interview subjects, filming outdoors, and editing.

Settling into my internship was definitely a strange process in the time of this pandemic. I got to see their amazing film studio in-person during my first week, until COVID-19 struck the office. Luckily, I did not contract the virus, but my supervisor and other employees tested positive. We have switched our weekly staff meetings to Zoom, while I am staying busy doing research on a treatment for the Niagara River Greenway. I am grateful of the way Full Circle handled this COVID-19 outbreak, and I am excited to get back into the studio as soon as possible!
