I went into this semester really trying to make a decision about what direction I wanted to take with my career. I have always loved development and non-profit work, but I wanted to explore advertising and marketing. I fell in love with copy writing and I’m so glad I was able to learn as much as I did about how larger agencies function and about copy writing professionally. The biggest thing I learned at Gelia was that I love writing, even if it is writing about things as dull as industrial reels or construction machines. Writing, to me, is like a puzzle, finding the right words that fit perfectly, it is something I never get bored with, no matter what the subject is. I had such a good mentor during my time at Gelia and I am so grateful for the experience. I learned that I was writer at Gelia, and that is something that has changed my outlook completely.

I loved my time as an intern at Canisius High just as much. I was able to really perfect my fundraising skills by working on a fundraiser that brought in 50,000 dollars. Being able to put that on my resume is such a great asset. At Canisius I was able to learn more about how to effectively reach donors and in turn generate more money. I was able to be really independent during my time at Canisius and felt like a part of the team. I learned that liking your coworkers and working well with other people is so important.
